The Reluctant Blade

The story centers on Serennia, a young woman who has spent much of her life hiding from people who want to turn her into a weapon.  Because of her unusual combat abilities, powerful figures see her as a tool rather than a person.

Serennia grows up in an abusive and controlling environment, which eventually forces her to run away.  Alone and vulnerable, she arrives in a harsh and unforgiving city where survival is difficult.

To survive, she joins the Sparrows, an underground group of thieves who operate like a found family.  They provide protection and community, but their criminal activities pull Serennia deeper into a morally gray world.
